The Office of Industrial Relations (OIR) leads, promotes and enables improvements in work health and safety across Queensland, while supporting effective workers’ compensation regulatory services and a fair industrial relations framework.
The Finance, Facilities & Procurement unit sits within OIR’s Corporate Directorate and delivers a range of corporate services, including financial management, procurement and contracts, and facilities management.
About the Role
OIR is seeking an experienced Procurement & Contracts Officer for an initial six-month engagement based at 1 William Street, Brisbane.
Working within the Finance, Facilities & Procurement unit, you will primarily support Learning & Development procurement activities, while also assisting with broader procurement requirements and associated administration across OIR.
- Providing procurement advice and support across planning, sourcing, evaluation, contract negotiation, formation, management and administration.
- Advising stakeholders on Queensland Government and agency procurement policies, practices, processes and templates.
- Preparing procurement and evaluation plans, sourcing documentation and briefing notes for senior and executive management.
- Supporting stakeholders to develop specifications and appropriate procurement strategies that deliver value for money.
- Assisting with requests for quotes, tenders, contracts and associated procurement documentation.
- Preparing purchase requisitions and coordinating vendor creations and extensions through SAP.
- Liaising with Queensland Shared Services, Finance and Budgeting teams to resolve procurement, purchase order and vendor matters.
- Supporting the central OIR Procurement inbox and associated records management using SharePoint Online and shared drives.
About You
You will bring recent Queensland Government procurement experience, supported by strong stakeholder engagement, communication and organisational skills.
- Knowledge and practical experience applying the Queensland Procurement Policy and related policies and procedures.
- Previous Queensland Government procurement experience within the last 6–12 months.
- Experience supporting Learning & Development procurement activities within Queensland Government.
- Experience developing requests for quotes, tenders, contracts and associated documentation.
- Experience undertaking operational procurement activities.
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience using the SAP financial system.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities, organise your workload and meet deadlines.
