Davidson is working with a state government client who is seeking an experienced Engagement Officer (AO5 equivalent) to support major projects within their Strategy and Engagement team.


About the Role

As an Engagement Officer (Major Projects), you will be engaged as a full-time contractor commencing as soon as possible through to 30 June 2026. Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Engagement and Partnerships, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of a range of limited-life funded initiatives that strengthen biosecurity preparedness capability and capacity.

Working closely with internal teams and external partners, including industry peak bodies, you will contribute to animal and plant pest and disease preparedness initiatives, co-designed behavioural change projects, and partnership-based engagement activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of strategic engagement and education projects and initiatives that support biosecurity preparedness.
  • Apply appropriate project management methodologies to ensure project objectives and activities are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Plan and undertake assigned project activities, independently completing tasks and supervising components of work as required.
  • Develop high-quality written materials suitable for diverse audiences and communication channels, in line with corporate standards, and progress these through to publication or release.
  • Build, maintain and strengthen internal and external relationships and networks to support engagement strategies and deliver effective events for target audiences.
  • Build and maintain an understanding of stakeholder interests and social responses to biosecurity issues.
  • Apply contemporary engagement techniques and use audience analytics to support stakeholder mapping and targeted communication.
  • Establish, promote and support events on behalf of the organisation in line with key projects and business needs.

This role is based in Brisbane, with flexible working arrangements negotiable.


About You

  • Demonstrated experience contributing to engagement, communication or education projects, ideally within a government or complex stakeholder environment.
  • Strong project management capability, with the ability to manage multiple activities and deliver outcomes within time and budget constraints.
  • Proven ability to develop clear, audience-appropriate written materials across a range of formats and channels.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with experience working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, engagement, project management or a related field will be highly regarded, though not mandatory.
