About the Company:
We are partnering with a Queensland state government client who is seeking a Principal Project Officer to contribute to a high-profile, whole-of-government strategic initiative focused on water security and economic growth.
About the Role:
As Principal Project Officer, you will play a pivotal role in the development and launch of Queensland’s Water Security Plan. Working closely with senior managers, you will lead strategic engagement, inter-agency coordination, and project delivery activities that support the successful release of this critical blueprint.
- Provide expert input into the development of the Water Security Plan, aligning with government priorities and stakeholder interests.
- Manage work packages and coordinate contributions from contractors, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders.
- Evaluate and verify content accuracy, ensuring completeness and alignment with strategic objectives.
- Track project milestones, stakeholder engagement, and data verification processes.
- Prepare high-level reports, briefing notes, speaking points, and presentations for senior executives, including the Director-General and Minister.
- Facilitate internal communications and manage systems supporting stakeholder engagement.
- Monitor feedback, draft key messages, and mitigate reputational or project risks.
- Contribute to budget tracking and reporting on committed expenditure and actuals.
- Conduct research and analysis to identify opportunities, constraints, and risks.
- Maintain a stakeholder issues register and ensure high-level interactions are documented and resolved.
- Support a high-performing team and guide others as needed in a dynamic operating environment.
About You:
This role requires a well-rounded, strategic thinker with strong project delivery and stakeholder engagement experience. You will be comfortable navigating complex policy landscapes and have a proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. We’re looking for someone who can:

- Demonstrate strong policy or project delivery experience, with the ability to research, analyse and interpret complex issues.
- Communicate effectively across all levels, with experience preparing senior-level presentations, reports, and submissions.

- Ideally, bring experience in developing high-level strategies and plans within a government context.

Mandatory Requirements
- Citizenship/Visa: You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a valid visa with work rights in Australia. Evidence of work rights will be required.

- $85.31 - $94.34 per hour + Super
