We are working with a state government client who is seeking a Project Manager to join their Maritime Assets and Infrastructure unit. This division oversees the maintenance and capital planning of Queensland’s extensive boating infrastructure portfolio, including boat ramps, pontoons, floating walkways, jetties, and breakwaters.
About the Role
As Project Manager, you will lead and manage boating infrastructure maintenance projects from initiation to close-out, while also supporting the planning and development of future capital works. This is a non-engineering role focused on governance, procurement, stakeholder coordination, and project delivery, allowing technical teams to focus on design and assurance.
Reporting to the Manager (Boating Infrastructure), your responsibilities will include:
- Managing boating infrastructure maintenance projects across Queensland, ensuring delivery within approved scope, schedule, and budget.
- Supporting planning and pre-construction activities for capital projects, including cost estimation, risk assessment, and scheduling.
- Leading procurement processes, including tender documentation, coordination with internal investment units, and contractor evaluation.
- Overseeing contract administration, including progress claims, variations, and contractor performance.
- Monitoring financial performance, maintaining accurate forecasts, cost tracking, and milestone reporting.
- Maintaining project schedules and risk registers, proactively managing emerging risks and issues.
- Coordinating stakeholder engagement and communication with councils, contractors, and internal teams.
- Supporting integration of governance frameworks across maintenance and capital projects.
- Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety standards and sustainability objectives.
- Contributing to continuous improvement of project management systems and templates.
- Undertaking other duties aligned with the unit’s objectives.
About You
This role requires an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in infrastructure delivery or asset management. The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in project management within infrastructure or asset management environments.
- Proven experience delivering small-to-medium civil or marine projects, ideally within government or regulated sectors.
- Strong understanding of procurement, contract management, and financial governance.
- Familiarity with gated assurance frameworks such as PRINCE2, PMBOK, or similar.
- Highly developed stakeholder and contractor management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Experience with project systems such as 3PCM, SAP, or MS Project (desirable).
The Benefits
- $87.02 per hour + Super (PAYG Agency Contractor)
- Contract to 30 April 2026
- Located in Brisbane CBD
- Monday to Friday, Full time hours (up to 40 hours/week)
