About the Role
This is an opportunity for an experienced health and wellbeing professional to lead and continuously improve enterprise-wide programs that protect worker health and support a safe, healthy and productive workforce.
This is a senior specialist technical and advisory position with no direct reports. Success will be driven by your subject matter expertise, professional judgement, stakeholder engagement and ability to influence outcomes across the organisation.
Working closely with operational leaders, health and safety professionals, occupational hygiene specialists and external service providers, you will provide specialist leadership and advice across worker health, fitness for work, psychosocial wellbeing and hazardous exposures.
- Leading health monitoring and health surveillance programs, including governance, implementation, oversight and contractor management
- Supporting fitness for work programs encompassing fatigue, drug and alcohol management and related assurance activities
- Leading psychosocial risk management and worker wellbeing initiatives
- Managing health risks associated with hazardous exposures including lead, respirable crystalline silica, asbestos, noise and chemicals
- Supporting exposure monitoring programs and associated health-related training
- Developing and reviewing policies, standards, procedures, guidance materials and governance frameworks
- Identifying and implementing practical, enterprise-wide solutions to health and wellbeing challenges
- Providing trusted specialist advice to operational and corporate stakeholders.
About You
You are an experienced health and wellbeing professional who can operate independently, navigate complex issues and translate technical requirements into practical operational outcomes.
You will bring strong professional judgement and the confidence to influence stakeholders without direct authority. Comfortable taking ownership of complex challenges, you can work through technical, operational and stakeholder considerations to deliver effective solutions with minimal supervision.
- More than five years’ experience across health, occupational hygiene, workplace wellbeing, health and safety or a closely related discipline
- Demonstrated experience managing legislated health monitoring and health surveillance programs
- Strong experience implementing fitness for work programs, including fatigue and drug and alcohol management
- Experience leading psychosocial risk management and workplace wellbeing initiatives
- Experience developing enterprise-level frameworks, systems, standards, procedures and improvement programs
- Experience managing health risks associated with hazardous substances and exposures
- Experience within civil construction, construction, transport, infrastructure, utilities, resources, rail or another comparable high-risk industry
- The ability to build strong relationships and translate specialist technical requirements into practical business outcomes.
