We are partnering with a state government client seeking an experienced AO7 Asset Manager to join their Financial Strategy and Advice team.
About the Role
This senior role leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of asset accounting frameworks, practices, and reporting. You will ensure the integrity and compliance of asset records, support high-quality financial reporting, and provide strategic financial advice in line with Australian Accounting Standards, the Financial Accountability Act, and Treasury guidelines.
The position plays a critical role in annual asset revaluations, audit processes, and system enhancements that underpin effective asset management. You will also contribute to planning, performance monitoring, risk identification, and provide high-level advice to senior management and internal stakeholders.
- Lead the preparation of asset accounting data for inclusion in financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and Treasury requirements.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of asset registers through reconciliations, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage annual asset revaluation processes, liaise with external valuers and auditors, and provide authoritative advice on valuation outcomes.
- Develop and maintain systems, procedures, and training materials to support consistent and compliant asset accounting practices.
- Supervise and guide business units involved in asset maintenance, capital works, and reporting to ensure alignment with financial obligations.
- Monitor compliance with legislation, accounting standards, and internal policies, identifying gaps and leading corrective actions.
- Identify training needs and deliver programs to build departmental capability in asset accounting.
- Prepare high-level reports, briefing notes, and submissions for senior executives and government stakeholders.
- Represent the client in meetings with auditors, valuers, and external agencies as required.
About You
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related discipline (required).
- CA/CPA accreditation (highly desirable).
- Demonstrated experience in asset accounting, financial reporting, and valuation processes within a complex organisation (government preferred).
- Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, financial legislation, Treasury policy, and asset management frameworks.
- Proven ability to lead complex accounting processes such as annual asset revaluations and audit engagement.
- High-level analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide authoritative financial advice.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence, train and support non-financial staff.
- Experience supervising staff and coordinating cross-departmental financial activities.
The Benefits:
- $88.29 per hour + Super
- Contract through until June 2026
- Located in Brisbane CBD
