About the Company

Davidson is working with a state government client seeking an experienced Support Officer to join their Legal Strategy and Services Group. The team provides strategic, pragmatic and cost-effective legal solutions across litigation, contracts and advisory matters.


About the Role

Reporting to the Director, you will provide high-level administrative and operational support to legal officers, ensuring legal matters are managed efficiently and in line with record-keeping requirements. You will play a key role in maintaining strong file management practices, supporting litigation processes, and enhancing team productivity.

  • Deliver high-quality, timely administrative support across a broad range of legal and office matters to improve service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Support the Director and legal officers with the day-to-day coordination and administration of legal matters.
  • Develop, maintain and enhance internal processes, including legal matter management procedures and precedents (e.g. templates, standard correspondence).
  • Manage and produce regular reporting, including performance reports, financial tracking and forecasting, legal updates and trend analysis.
  • Oversee database administration, including interrogation, reporting and data accuracy.
  • Collaborate with finance and procurement teams to support financial processes such as invoicing, cost coding, purchase orders and expense management.
  • Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, record minutes and manage follow-up actions and team communications.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to gather information for case preparation, including complex or sensitive matters.
  • Provide general troubleshooting support and contribute to ad hoc reporting and operational tasks as required.


About You

  • Demonstrated experience in a senior administrative or legal support role, ideally within a busy legal environment.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within tight or changing timeframes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy across reports, correspondence and records.
  • Strong administrative capability, including diary management, document preparation, file management, and database use.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels.
  • Experience supporting legal processes, including compiling briefs, drafting correspondence and maintaining precedents.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with sound judgement to escalate or resolve issues as appropriate.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to identify and enhance systems and processes.
  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • A collaborative, proactive and team-oriented approach.

Additional Information

  • Flexibility may be required to work outside standard hours or across alternate locations.
  • Travel may be required on occasion.

  • $69.21 per hour + Super
