A Safety Leadership program worthy of the 2022 Australian Workplace and Safety Awards

CHALLENGE


Following a number of significant safety incidents in one of their businesses, a building materials supplier embarked on a programme of work to upskill their leaders across Australia to become stronger safety leaders.



SOLUTION


A tailored Safety Leadership program underpinned by the Bradley Curve, a Dupont model of Safety Culture. This program was line lead, fully virtual and centred around leading change through hearts and minds, safety storytelling, wellbeing and coaching.



OUTCOMES


The Davidson team delivered workshops to 1162 leaders across 6 businesses. We worked with the organisational development team to enhance and further develop the program to ensure sustained behavioural change. Davidson continues to support the facilitation and ongoing development of the Safety Leadership program.

Safety Leadership embedded into the culture of a critical statutory authority

CHALLENGE


The General Manager for the Major Projects division was seeking a partner to design and develop a leadership competency framework and leadership program with safety at its core.



SOLUTION


Over a two-year period, Davidson worked alongside the Major Projects leadership team to develop their Competency Framework and build and deliver a bespoke leadership program addressing the competencies in the framework.




OUTCOMES


The leadership framework is embedded in the authority’s performance and development programs.


Additionally, the leadership program has been delivered to all senior leadership and middle management teams. Elements of the leadership program have been delivered to the ICT and Legal teams.

Safety Leadership programs that doesn’t cost a fortune

CHALLENGE


A number of Davidson’s clients were seeking a 360-feedback survey for Safety Leadership that was designed for the Australian workplace. They wanted a cost-effective solution to support the professional development of their leaders and lead to sustained behavioural change.



SOLUTION


Davidson’s team of Organisational and Consulting Psychologists undertook comprehensive academic research and consultation with industry and identified 8 core competencies evident in developing safety leadership and a culture of safety excellence.




OUTCOMES


Davidson administers the 360 surveys and debriefs safety leaders who have participated in the 360-safety leadership survey. If desired, we embed the surveys and debriefs into existing professional development and performance programs.


.For those wishing to build the capability of their in-house team, Davidson have developed a ‘train the trainer’ program to train staff to debrief staff on their results from the 360-safety leadership survey. This acts to embed safety behaviour, reduce ongoing costs and support the sustainability and longevity of the 360-survey program
