About the Company

Established to facilitate a more dynamic and responsive energy market, our client is looking to deliver innovative energy solutions for their customers through a diverse mix of generation capacity and investment in renewable energy projects. To support the formation of the new Finance Team we are looking to recruit a technically focused Accounting Professional with a Revenue Accounting focus. There will be a number of projects that this individual will support, however they will be pivotal in overseeing the development and implementation of accounting policies pertaining to recognition of revenue.

About the role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, with a close working relationship with Senior Management, your role will be to manage all accounting in relation to revenue recognition and the management reporting procedures and processes. This is a hands on role in a challenging yet rewarding environment. Your key duties will include but not limited to:

  • Review, recognition and reconciliation of revenue transactions and corresponding entries including requirements under AASB 15 & AASB 9
  • Reporting of revenue position and impact on liquidity position
  • Responsible for reporting month-end energy trading accruals and ongoing reporting of realised trading
  • Responsible for oversight and reporting of the hedge accounting program
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop processes to ensure the accuracy and availability of information

About you

To be successful in the role you will have experience in a similar role and a proven track record in the being part of a financial reporting function in a commercial organisation. It is essential for you to be CA/CPA qualified and have an excellent understanding of accounting standards working in a highly regulated environment. A sound understanding or experience of derivative and hedge accounting would be ideal, along with experience in an ERP implementation. Possessing the ability to resolve issues and pursue business opportunities as they are identified, you will need demonstrate that you have a strong commercial acumen with highly developed communication skills. Experience in derivative and hedge accounting is desirable along with previous experience in the power generation industry. This role is being offered on an ongoing contract basis with potential longer term engagement for the right individual.
