Job Description

Resources Safety & Health Queensland (RSHQ) is an independent statutory body responsible for regulating safety and health in the state's resources industries including coal mines, mineral mines and quarries, explosives and petroleum and gas.

The Petroleum and Gas Inspectorate (P&G) of RSHQ, is seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Inspector to play a critical leadership role in helping to ensure that the petroleum and gas industry operates at an acceptable level of risk.

As a Senior Inspector, you will have responsibility for the Toowoomba/Dalby P&G Inspectorate and you will provide expert technical advice on a range of petroleum and gas safety and health matters to industry, the government and the community.

You will also undertake inspections and audits relating to petroleum and gas operations and where necessary take corrective action to improve safety and health in accordance with safety and health legislation.

A key requirement for this role is to drive improvements in safety and health within the Queensland petroleum and gas industry through sound regulatory practises and risk based regulator principles.

Whilst these are investigatory and enforcement roles they also require experienced petroleum and gas industry leaders who can represent RSHQ at all levels across the petroleum and gas industries, employers and employees, RSHQ and the public.

A Queensland Gas Work Licence and/or current Gas Work Authorisation (or interstate equivalent) and a relevant degree (Engineering/Health and Safety/Science) from a tertiary institution are highly desirable. Your proven experience in upstream gas operations will be beneficial for success in this role.
