The Board of Professional Engineers is a Statutory Body that is constituted under the Professional Engineers Act 2002. With a reporting line to the Minister for Housing and Public Works, the Board also has an administrative relationship with the Department of Housing and Public Works. With a clear remit to maintain and enhance the standards of the profession in Queensland, specific areas of accountability are around assessment of applications, registration of individuals, investigating professional conduct and advising the Minister on important and urgent matters.
The role of Registrar
You will have oversight and responsibility for managing all administrative functions concerned with the registration of professional engineers. You will lead a team of 20 who fall under the areas of Legal, Registry, Communications and Corporate as well as managing upward to the Chair of the Board and Executive Director within the Department of Housing and Public works. You will engage in a pro-active strategy of building registration throughout the industry and ensuring that the external perception of the Board is positive and customer centric.
You will be a visionary leader who understands the complexities of running a team that has many different roles, able to run an efficient budget, be able to understand and meet the needs of Registered Engineers and be able to build strong relationships internally and externally. As the interface between the Board and the Department, you should have experience in a regulatory environment and also be able to navigate the Public Sector in terms of strategic stakeholder engagement and management.
