About the Project

The Victorian Murray Floodplain Restoration Project (VMFRP) is a $320m program of infrastructure works that assist in the restoration of high value floodplains on the River Murray in Victoria. The Project is being delivered in partnership between Lower Murray Water, Goulburn Murray Water, Mallee CMA, North Central CMA, Parks Victoria and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning and is funded by the Australian Government's Department of Agriculture, Water and Environment. The project covers nine separate sites in areas of high environmental, heritage and community value. The projects vary in scale and complexity and generally involve the construction of weirs, regulators, pump stations, levees and access tracks within existing national parks and state forest.

About the role and your responsibilities

Reporting into the Project Director and part of the Project Leadership Team, this position is responsible for establishing and overseeing the commercial, financial, HSEQ, planning and administrative systems of the project for the Victorian Murray Floodplain Restoration Project (VMFRP). Responsibilities will include ensuring all suitable systems are established and implemented to enable and support the project delivery team with achieving the budget, schedule and quality objectives.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • To be appropriately qualified with academic degree(s) or diploma(s) in either quantity surveying, Accounting, financial management or commercial management in a project setting and at least five (5) years' experience in a similar role
  • Proven ability in contract management and administration, budget control, materials scheduling, project evaluation and fiscal responsibility.
  • Substantial experience and detailed practical knowledge in financial management, reconciliations, sundry debtors, processing of General Ledger functions and Month/Year End functions.
  • Relevant experience within the Australian, and preferably Victorian, water industry would be highly regarded
  • Demonstrated capacity to negotiate effectively internally and externally with public agencies and in sensitive commercial and community environments.
  • Proven experience and ability in investigating, analysing and reporting of complex financial, legal, OHS and risk management issues involving infrastructure investment and delivery in the public sector.
  • High-level leadership skills including the ability to gain commitment to strategic direction from key stakeholder groups.
