Job Description

The National Transport Commission (NTC) is an independent advisory body. NTC provides quality, impartial advice and national land transport reform proposals to governments through the COAG Transport and Infrastrucutre Council. NTC contributes to the achievement of national reform priorities which are agreed by the Council. The Council's current strategic reform priorities are: sustainable funding for transport and infrastructure, embracing innovation and technology in transport and infrastructure, productive and liveable cities and regions and maximising freight productivity.

The Manager of Legislative Maintenance will work within the Reform maintenance team and provide a high-level of support to the Directors and Senior Leaders at NTC. This support will entail engagement with senior stakeholders and national policy associations on policy and legislation.

The role will lead legislative development and policy projects to improve land transport efficiency, safety, regulatory efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of land transport.

Whilst a Manager level role, there are no staff responsibilities in this area, enabling you to focus your attention on your strategic impact.

To be successful in this role you will have a strong background in legislative policy reform. You may have had exposure to industry that has enabled you to form and competently write legislation, polices and cabinet submissions to an exceptional standard that is coupled with your outstanding verbal skills. You have excellent critical thinking skills and your capability to engage and work with stakeholders will be critical to achieving success. You are driven by quality and this is measured by your briefs and submissions. You are diligent by nature and this helps you to work well within a team and with senior stakeholders, peak bodies and policy associations.
