This newly created senior role, reporting to the Director Planning and Development, will play a pivotal role in developing and executing economic development strategies to create a strong local economy that will attract new jobs and increase local employment and investment to the municipality. Representing City of Whittlesea Council and the community, this role will engage with and advocate to key external stakeholders, such as State Government, State Authorities and Peak Bodies, to partner with to deliver on economic development strategies, programs and related services. Leading an existing and high performing team, this role will align objectives and priorities and hire new capability to ensure the delivery of projects and programs. As a member of the Corporate Leadership Group, this position will also provide feedback and input into broader organisational-wide issues and initiatives and develop reports, discussions papers and advice for the ELT and Council.
A proven leader, you will demonstrate end to end experience in economic development strategy and delivery, ideally within (or working with) the Local Government sector. With exceptional stakeholder management skills, you present with strong existing networks across Government and key peak bodies, and an ability to effectively engage with a range of community groups to collaborative and deliver on impactful projects and initiatives. You can demonstrate a track record in creating, developing and leading high performing teams, and providing advice to ELT and the Council. Relevant qualifications in business, economics, marketing and related field is also required.
