Moonee Valley City Council is seeking dynamic, contemporary people-leaders to support the vision of MV2040. Located in the inner north-western suburbs of Melbourne, Moonee Valley is a welcoming, culturally diverse and inclusive city, host to many beautiful parks and reserves, thriving shopping strips and vibrant arts venues. Our highly talented and dedicated workforce is responsible for providing a range of programs and services to the community. MV2040's vision is for 'a healthy city', where together Council will create and continually improve the conditions that enable all of us to enjoy the highest level of health and wellbeing possible. The MV2040 Strategy will be achieved through a framework of strategic directions, objectives and actions across five themes - Fair, Thriving, Connected, Green and Beautiful.

Following an extensive organisational review, we are realigning how we work to deliver for our community. We are implementing a leadership model which serves the organisation and community from the perspectives of three key functions: Think, Do and Enable. The grouping of roles and responsibilities in the three functional areas will ensure clear decision-making lines, reduced silos and enhanced organisational performance to improve community outcomes.

Manager Corporate Affairs

  • Ensure better advocacy outcomes supported by clarity in communications and responsiveness to community requests, through the Communications, Advocacy and Customer Service teams

Reporting to the newly appointed CEO, you will form a critical part of the senior leadership team and hold a dual focus; whole of organisational leadership and setting a clear direction for the division to continue delivering on Council's vision and plans. This is an outstanding opportunity to work closely with an ambitious and driven CEO to provide the Council with the best quality advice to help it make optimal decisions and make a real difference to the community.

This exciting opportunity will see you engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders both internally and across the community, ensuring clarity in communications and responsiveness to community requests for service. You will set the operational strategy and provide effective leadership across the communications, customer service, and advocacy teams, ensuring programs and services are delivered in a professional way, with the best interests of Council and the community being met.

Key to your success will be your experience in planning and delivering high-quality programs in a complex service delivery organisation, with both an operational and strategic focus. With a tertiary degree in a relevant field, you will have proven experience in leading diverse teams where a customer-centric approach has led to the team's success. You pride yourself on your ability to engage with, and meet the needs of the community, and part of the reason for your success is that your negotiation, influencing, and motivating skills are second-to-none. The Manager Corporate Affairs will live and breathe the values of Council, injecting this passion into your interactions with internal and external stakeholders and constantly working towards achieving MV2040 and Council Plan objectives.

There's never been a more exciting time to join the leadership team at Moonee Valley City Council. To apply or for further details about the organisation including detailed position descriptions, please go to www.davidsonexecutive.com.au/clients/mvcc
