This role will form part of our dynamic senior leadership network and provide strategic oversight and leadership that enhances the quality of life and value for the community.
Reporting to the Executive Manager People, Culture and Safety, the Head of Safety and Wellbeing will be responsible for embedding a strong safety culture across the business to ensure the highest standards of safety and wellbeing for all City of Port Phillip employees, contractors, and community members. As a genuine leader in the safety space you will influence across the business on both operational and strategic safety initiatives. You will be prepared to be hands-on in managing risks and implementing processes, and will be a ready and willing coach and business partner for the wider organisation. You will also be an engaging and motivating team manager, working with your team to build up the safety capability across the business.
To be considered for this role you will bring proven experience in developing strong safety cultures within complex service delivery organisations. You will be a leader in embedding change and driving continuous improvement across a diverse workforce, with excellent relationship-building, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills. You will have a strong understanding of injury and claims management and be able to proactively manage return to work processes. With a relevant tertiary degree and hands-on experience in both operational and strategic safety and wellbeing roles, you will focus on influencing and changing cultural behaviours to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing, in line with Council's values and legislative requirements.
