Our client within Local Government currently has the need for an experienced GIS Officer to join their Parks Branch. The role is to maintain and support the use of spatial information systems and data to enable the Parks Branch to achieve operational and strategic outcomes, primarily in the area of parks maintenance.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and collate accurate GIS maps, maintenance schedules and other documentation necessary for tender processes. Maintain and update GIS data for new, deleted or modified parks maintenance sites.
  • Participate in the contract tendering and administration process, when required.
  • Maintain accurate systems for capturing new park/streetscape developments and capital works projects for costing and reporting purposes.
  • Attend ON/OFF Maintenance site meetings to capture park contract maintenance requirements for new developments.
  • Develop, implement and continually improve systems and processes for the effective delivery of park contract maintenance services across the city.
  • Create, manipulate and manage spatial asset databases, applications and mapping layers for parks maintenance sites, within Council's Geographical Information system (GIS).
  • Present to customers professionally and conduct dealings to promote the Parks Branch as a responsive, efficient and client focussed team.


Experience and Skills required:

  • Well- developed knowledge and extensive practical experience of GIS (preferably using ESRI-Arc GIS), including the ability to create and manipulate spatial information layers in corporate GIS applications to produce maps, schedules and reports necessary for tender process.
