The Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water & Planning (DELWP) is tasked with ensuring that Victoria has the right conditions to enable economic growth, while delivering liveable, inclusive and sustainable communities. Bringing together planning, local government and infrastructure, environment, climate change, energy and water functions, the organisation ensures an integrated approach to the development of long-term state and regional strategies that build on social, environmental and economic opportunities to provide for future population growth and change. An organisation renowned for its confident leadership and positive culture, they invest heavily in their people and are proud of the diversity of their workforce.

As the energy sector transitions towards renewable energy, DELWP's Energy Group has a pivotal role to play to ensure Victoria is well positioned to embrace this transformation. The Energy Group has a broad range of programs and initiatives which will help the Victorian Government ensure the reliability, security, sustainability and affordability of Victoria's energy systems during these times of unprecedented change.

This role is positioned within the Energy Group's Commercial and Investment Attraction division which delivers the procurement and facilitation of large-scale energy projects and explores sector development opportunities. The division applies best practice processes to the management, planning, design and implementation of energy projects and programs using commercial acumen and project delivery expertise.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Commercial and Investments Attraction, this position leads the delivery of the government's major, high-value, large scale energy projects and programs. It provides commercial expertise whilst managing risks and ensuring best return on government investment to increase the reliability, affordability and sustainability of Victoria's energy supply network. This role leads a range of complex auctions, tenders, contract negotiation processes and the ongoing contract management for a number of long-term contracts the government has signed with major energy projects. Focusing on developing a positive and high-performance team culture, you will support staff to work collaboratively with other teams and ensure strong integration across the Group.

You have proven leadership experience which will see you being a trusted adviser within the Energy Group. Being an exceptional negotiator, you possess a sound project management approach and the ability to manage large scale contracts. Ideally you will have developed a strong career from within energy, resources or renewables from within the government or commercial sectors. You are a strategic thinker with the ability to drive activity to achieve outcomes. You have excellent stakeholder management skills. Finally, you have contributed across executive teams in the past and are known for your ability to add value outside of your own area of responsibility.
