As part of an ongoing strategy to further enhance and build commercial opportunities from UQ's intellectual property (IP), UniQuest is looking for an experienced business development manager to join their business.
As a Director, Commercial Engagement - Physical Sciences you will be the key link between world-renowned research and industry and investment organisations looking for commercial opportunities. The role will manage projects and commercialisation opportunities based on your subject matter expertise in technologies and services related to physical sciences and/or engineering.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Developing strong effective relationships with UQ researchers to identify potential IP commercialisation opportunities;
- Formulating and executing strategies to drive commercial outcomes;
- Attracting and networking with potential key industry and investor stakeholders;
- Structuring, negotiating and closing commercial opportunities to maximise value;
- Managing and maintaining a portfolio of qualified projects and IP/patent applications;
- Ensuring an understanding of the commercialisation process amongst the UQ research community.
To be considered for this challenging role, you will have experience and a track record of business development activities and preferably have an understanding of university research, as well as proven ability to build relationships across a various networks.
You will have demonstrable experience in technology commercialisation, and a track record of transactions (licenses and/or start-ups). Effective at building business relationships with a collaborative, outcomes-focused approach to operating in a high performing culture. Tertiary qualifications in a field aligned to an area in the Physical Sciences field is essential.
