The City of Yarra is one of Victoria's most innovative and progressive Councils. Yarra City Council is seeking a strategic focused Chief Financial Officer to effectively lead and manage the Finance Branch to deliver quality financial and procurement services to the organisation, Executive and Council.

Reporting to the Director Corporate, Business and Finance, the Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for working across the organisation to drive a strong strategic and commercial agenda. Leading a diverse portfolio of functions including Finance, Procurement, Valuations and Revenues Services, the CFO will also be responsible for the ongoing commercial sustainability of the Council to ensure long term financial stability. More specifically, this role will develop and maintain the strategic direction, policy framework and services standards in line with Divisional objectives, including the 10 year long term financial strategy. The Chief Financial Officer will be expected to work closely with the Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Team and Councillors in developing and implementing these strategies.

We are seeking an executive leader with a high level of energy, passion and engagement. Degree and CPA/CA qualified, you have an ability to generate creative commercial solutions for various financial challenges, driving value through a range of strategic initiatives. With an ability to influence, negotiate and advocate, you will build strong stakeholder relationships with diverse groups, including key government department representatives, executives, Councillors and the community. Furthermore you will be a motivational, collaborative and values driven leader, highly regarded for your genuine commitment to leading and empowering high performing teams to deliver and reach their own professional goals.

Experience and understanding of Local Government or the public sector is desirable, but not essential.
