Geelong Regional Library Corporation (GRLC) is a growing, innovative, creative and inclusive library service in the Geelong community and is supported by its four member councils: Borough of Queenscliffe, City of Greater Geelong, Golden Plains Shire and Surf Coast Shire. Compromising of a central library and Heritage Centre (The Dome), currently 16 community libraries and two mobile services, the network provides universal access to lifelong learning, reading and discovery. From July 2021, Colac Otway Shire will join the Corporation and add two libraries to the network, Colac and Apollo Bay, and further mobile library services. In an ever changing world that we live in, the current strategic plan has a focus of enriching, empowering and inspiring the community by providing library services and experiences that create opportunities for people to read, learn, work and connect.

Reporting to the Board, the CEO will provide inspirational and empowering leadership across the organisation and drive a culture that is collegiate, one of passion for lifelong learning and a respect and genuine interest for the diverse communities that GRLC supports. The CEO will drive growth of the organisation through the addition of new sites, programs and by identifying opportunities for the community to further utilise GRLC facilities such as The Dome. Through strategic leadership, advocacy, innovation and building strong community relationships the CEO will continue to build on the solid financial position of the organisation.

This is an opportunity for an experienced CEO or first time CEO, with experience at the executive table to support the board to fulfil the current strategic plan (2017-2021) and embed the next strategic plan currently in development and consultation. With strong financial acumen (including knowledge of state government funding models), and the ability to build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders including the Board, government and the community, the CEO will be a passionate advocate and have a respect for knowledge and learning for all. The successful CEO will have experience in social and community development or service delivery, with a genuine passion for lifelong learning. Experience in librarianship will be highly regarded although not essential.
