Job Description

The Organisation
The Australasian Land and Groundwater Association (ALGA) is a not-for-profit member based organisation which is recognised as a peak industry body for the contaminated land and groundwater community in Australia and New Zealand. ALGA's mission is to promote the protection, restoration and management of land and groundwater for the benefit of human health and the broader environment across Australasia. Its membership enjoys a variety of learning, partnering, networking and sponsorship/advertising opportunities.

The Role of the CEO
This position reports to the ALGA Board of Directors. The CEO is responsible for managing the workforce of ALGA employees and volunteers, and fostering a working environment that is engaged, collaborative and productive.

The CEO will play a key role in communicating and delivering ALGA's vision for Australasia to lead the world in the sustainable management of contaminated land and groundwater. The CEO will effectively communicate this vision with ALGA staff, members, volunteers, partners and other stakeholders.

The CEO will provide financial governance producing an annual budget with OPEX and CAPEX reports to be reviewed by the ALGA Board of Directors on a monthly basis.

This person will manage relationships with government, industry and other industry bodies where there may be mutual interests and opportunities for supporting member engagement. They will form strong relationships with industry stakeholders to identify and implement strategies to further grow the membership.

Finally, the CEO will further develop the learning opportunities currently offered through multiple platforms; conferences, events, seminars, interest groups and online learning.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Commensurate experience as a CEO or Senior Manager, with a strong understanding of the needs of not-for-profit and member based organisations
  • A proven track record in financial management and corporate governance
  • An understanding of the contaminated land and groundwater industry, its trends and best practice, or demonstrate willingness to develop such understanding
  • A willingness to travel regularly across ALGA's regions
