About The Office of Work Health and Safety Prosecutor
The Office of the Work Health and Safety Prosecutor has been created by the Queensland Government to be a key contributor to improved safety outcomes across the State's workplaces. Led by the Work Health and Safety Prosecutor this independent statutory office provides services to the Office of Industrial Relations and Resources Safety and Health Queensland to ensure the delivery of professional efficient prosecution services under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and other legislation.
The Assistant Work Health and Safety Prosecutor (AWHSP) is an expert prosecutor and experienced manager. You will appear as leading counsel and will lead a team to institute and conduct criminal and civil proceedings on behalf of the State. The AWHSP will also be responsible for the day to day management of a team of Prosecutors and ensuring the delivery high quality services.
The role requires a demonstrated commitment to, and understanding of, Queensland criminal and civil legislation as well as the proven ability to prosecute and lead matters as the representative of the State. The successful candidate will have at least five years post qualification experience and be able to demonstrate experience in a range of complex statutory legal prosecutions. You will also demonstrate the capacity to provide clear written and oral advice on matters relevant to the position's functions and responsibilities.
