Job Description

Our client is a large financial institution and they are on the look out for an API Developer.

As part of the Service Development team, and for the duration of your contract, you'll be coding with our seniors on projects from beginning to end - making sure that everything runs smoothly.

It'll be your job to know the ins and outs of each app, and each stage of development, so you can:

  • Speak strongly about your ideas and be wise enough to reshape ideas when the situation presents.
  • Own the code and take every opportunity to make it simpler, smarter, faster.
  • Ask the right questions to keep things moving forward
  • Spot potential design/coding gaps and risks (and assess their impact)
  • Deliver solutions across a range of technologies and platforms - yes, you'll have some web interaction as well as getting dirty with iOS coders
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with different areas of the business - from stakeholders and Product Owners to Technical Services and Asset Specialists
  • Keep records via JIRA and GitHub, and other documenting systems as need be
  • Make significant design decisions - and recognize when changes need to be made.
  • Ability to socialise and get acceptance on suggested solutions and bold enough to question the existing approach if you see a better way to do things

  • 10+ years experience as a software engineer, fluent with Javascript
  • 3+ years hands-on Enterprise NodeJS development experience
  • Broad knowledge of modern microservices patterns in a cloud native context
  • 5+ years of technology strategy experience
  • Strong analytical and decision making abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise
  • Good presentation and influencing skills
  • In depth understanding of Agile, specifically Scrum concepts
  • Adapts efficiently to changing circumstances and seeks alternative ways of achieving project objectives
