Distinctive Options provides a range of support services to people with disabilities in the North West corridor of Melbourne and regionally within its Victorian geographical corridor. Distinctive Options provides support to individuals, as well as group support and having successfully transitioned to NDIS, is now in a position to look at growth opportunities and expansion of current service offerings. The organisation is limited by guarantee and is a registered not-for-profit charity, with its key funding source coming from the National Disability Insurance Scheme. Distinctive Options also operates in a highly regulated environment.
The role of the Board is to provide leadership and strategic guidance for Distinctive Options, to ensure the organisation achieves its objectives whilst mitigating risk. There are currently seven dedicated and committed Non-Executive Directors, with the constitution allowing for up to nine Directors. In addition there are current opportunities available to fill key office bearer roles including relevant committee Chair roles.
A recent skills matrix review has identified the following areas that are of interest in potential Non-Executive Directors.
- Information technology
- Cyber security
- Marketing and fundraising
- Strategic planning
Industry experience that will be of interest in new Non -Executive Directors will include telecommunications, utilities, banking, health and general commercial business operations. Previous Board or C Suite experience with a high level of corporate governance will be essential for these roles.
