Job Description

About the Company

Operating as one of Australia’s largest port authorities, this business manages more than half of Queensland’s trade through their facilities.  Understanding that various industries in Australia and overseas will influence future trade, a new role is being created to help seize future opportunities. This role will be pivotal in conducting research and analysis of trends in the market and determine how they will influence current and future trade.

About the Role

The main purpose of the role will be to gather and evaluate business intelligence on industry and market trends and provide Senior Management with critical insight into opportunities for future trade.  This will translate into new business opportunities and the opportunity to work closely with the executive team to influence Trade Policy and Strategy.  Furthermore your key duties will include:
  • Develop and maintain robust trade forecasts
  • Evaluating key supply and demand drivers, including the policy positions of trading nations and the capacity of supply chains
  • Identify new and profitable revenue streams
  • Prepare quarterly market reports for the leadership team
  • Identify, analyse and present new business opportunities
  • Identify, evaluate and mitigate future trading risks
  • Develop strong relationships with various stakeholders in the organisation.
About you:

This role is unique to the market, and will attract a candidate who has a varied skill set, and background  within economics, analytics and trade and demand forecasting.  Experience working within an infrastructure business and an understanding of supply chains in a trading environment will also be an advantage.   You will have the ability to understand and interpret economic theory and clearly communicate in both a verbal and written form. Demonstrated experience in applying complex mathematical estimation formulas and preparing trade forecast models is also a requirement. In return this opening will offer the successful candidate a competitive remuneration, an enviable working environment and the opportunity to have a ‘seat at the table’ in Executive Management meetings. This role is being offered on a 3 year Fixed Term Contract.
