About the Role
Reporting to the Deputy Secretary Network Planning, the Executive Director Transport Planning is a fundamental leadership role for the newly established Department of Transport. Responsible for providing strategic leadership and future-focussed advice and direction to identifying the needs and priorities for the future of the transport network in the State, considering population and economic growth and liveability expectations. With a focus on city shaping, priority precincts, corridor, long term network planning and regional plans, the Executive Director Transport Planning (and their team) will translate transport and planning strategies and policies into the design of an integrated transport network which address all transport modes: roads, buses, trams, ferries, walking and bike-riding. Furthermore the ED Transport Planning will provide a whole-of-network view for Minsters, other divisions of DoT (including the Policy and Innovation, Network Integration and Transport Services divisions), delivery authorities and other government departments (including DoJ, DJPR, RPV, MTIA, VPA and DELWP) while leading a highly capable team to be more solution focused and to deliver the products, not just develop them.
 
About You
You bring an impressive blend of technical and executive leadership capabilities with proven experience working in a large complex organisation, ideally within the broader public sector (or with proven political acumen). You are known for your engaging interpersonal style and outstanding stakeholder negotiation skills, with a demonstrated capability to advise and negotiate outcomes with the Ministers offices and to form strong links with senior internal stakeholders and other state agencies and departments. You are respected for your transformational leadership and ability to enhance capability and collaboration in multi-disciplinary teams of senior staff and technical professional to delivery measurable sustained outcomes.
