About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Deputy Director-General (Corporate), the General Manager (Governance) provides independent, authoritative and confidential advice to the Director-General, the Deputy Director-General (Corporate) and executives across the department to ensure the governance arrangements, policies and practices reflect the consistently high performance and ethical standards of the organisation. The role requires strong professional leadership and management capabilities, and an ability to lead and manage the Governance Branch to deliver government priorities along with excellence in client service delivery. The role is accountable for an annual operating budget of approximately $21.4m and oversees an establishment of approximately 150 employees. It’s diverse portfolio of responsibilities include:

The position requires a person who will take personal responsibility for serving the government of the day and meeting the needs of the people and communities of Queensland. As an Executive, you will have demonstrated experience helping build a system of world class service delivery and public sector management. You will have a record of success as a leader in large and complex organisations with outstanding leadership ability. You will have extensive experience across the public, private and/or not for profit sector and you will have a strong background in strategy and policy implementation, service delivery, and client service. You will have a proven track record as an agent of change in challenging environments and in fostering a confident and capable workforce.
As a leader you will have proven to display outstanding judgement, high-level integrity, and strong agility to adapt to a constantly changing environment. You will be achievement orientated, and demonstrate excellent communication and negotiation skills.
