With a goal of activating Queensland, they are looking to inspire people to take advantage of the dedicated spaces and places across the state. These programs cover all levels of sporting achievement from the beginner through to the elite levels who are representing Queensland across the globe. As part of this ongoing commitment, the Queensland Government is seeking to appoint the following senior role.
This critical and high profile role will oversee the effective running of the QAS and the three service units which employ over 80 people and includes coaches and sport scientists. You will have responsibility for leading a team whose role is to create a thriving environment for athletic high performance. This will be done through monitoring the global landscape to ensure a world class environment is provided, building relationships with Australian Sports Commission, AOC and the Commonwealth Games Association as well as managing the Sport Performance Innovation and Knowledge Excellence Centre that facilitates applied research and strategic partnerships with universities and industry to achieve high performance outcomes.
You will be a proven people leader that has demonstrated experience of overseeing large and complex organisations where you have proven strategic and policy experience particularly in the field of sport and/or high performance. Your passion to provide the very best support and facilities for Queensland’s elite athletes will be evident in your application as will be your ability to manage multiple stakeholders at the highest level in both the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. The ability to manage a sizeable budget and run an efficient operation will also form a critical part of this highly sought after position.
