Executive Manager Recreation and Facilities

Join one of Sydney’s Leading Councils as their Executive Manager Recreation and Facilities. This position oversees a broad range of functions and will be held accountable for the successful management and delivery across Open Space Maintenance, Recreation Asset Management and Buildings and depot services.

About the role

You will look after 3 main portfolios:
  • Open Space Maintenance
Effectively manage and be accountable for the daily presentation and maintenance of Council’s open space and native vegetation areas whilst also ensuring Council’s sportsgrounds, playgrounds, passive and public spaces are designed effectively, managed in accordance with the communities expectations and are fit for purpose.
  • Recreation Asset Management
This function will ensure and be held accountable for the overall management and successful delivery of services across Councils recreational assets portfolio and improve the overall utilisation of them. This is inclusive of Council’s swim centres, golf courses, function centres and botanical gardens. 
  • Buildings and Depot Service
Effectively manage and be accountable for the daily maintenance and management of Council’s buildings, depot services, workshop and fleet management. This service area will focus on ensuring that our facilities, buildings and fleet meet the expectations of users and key stakeholders and are fit for purpose
This can be broken down further into:
  • Landscape design and open space planning
  • Maintenance of passive and premium parks, sport grounds, playgrounds and natural vegetation areas
  • Maintenance of swim centres, sports clubs, bookings and hire, botanic gardens, central gardens, Holroyd centre, Golf courses
  • Recreation and sports club management
  • Trade services
  • Building management
  • Depot services
  • Fleet management
  • Facilities Maintenance
  • Public Toilet Cleansing
About you
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in facilities or open space management or a related discipline
  • Significant leadership experience with a proven ability to model core values and desired behaviours
  • Demonstrated experience in the effective management of significant and complex maintenance programs
  • Understanding of operating in high quality service based environment with a focus on ensuring valuable and quality outcomes for communities
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning and management of substantial budgets, with a view to ensuring robust forward planning and effective project delivery
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work productively as a member of a senior leadership team and actively contribute to the achievement of shared goals
