Liverpool Plains Shire is a vibrant and economically strong rural area located just 45 minutes south of the regional centre of Tamworth and four hours north of Sydney.
The region has a rich agricultural history and picturesque beauty encompassing the foothills of the Great Dividing Range and the sweeping expanse of the fertile Liverpool Plains. The area offers the opportunity for a true rural lifestyle in a friendly atmosphere with excellent transport links.
Serving a population of around 8,000 residents, Liverpool Plains Shire Council has an annual budget of approximately $25m and a staff of 132.
The role of interim Executive Manager of Corporate Services will be to lead and manage councils’ corporate services functions in line with the Community Strategic Plan. Additionally, the successful individual will be required to provide strategic advice to the Executive team and the organisation as required.
Operationally, managing the functions of Public Interest Disclosure, Code of Conduct Coordinator, Public Officer and Government Information Public Access Officer will be required as will managing Council’s leases and licences, delegations, gifts and benefits register and pecuniary interest disclosures.
Key challenges will include balancing both operational and strategic responsibilities as well as developing and implementing contemporary systems and processes.
To be successful in this role it is expected that the successful applicant will have relevant tertiary qualifications and be able to demonstrate requisite management experience in a similar position. Strong knowledge of relevant legislations particularly in the areas of the Local Government Act, Government Information (Public Access) and associated legislation is additionally desirable.
