The role
Reporting to the Program Director Regional Shared Services, the Project Officer will play a key role for the City of Ballarat and the broader Central Highlands Region.
 
Following successfully securing $4.5 million Victorian Government funding, the Central Highlands Rural Councils (Ballarat, Hepburn, Pyrenees, Central Goldfields, Golden Plains and broader region Ararat, Moorabool and Northern Grampians Councils, encompassing a population of 400,000 people) and subsequent Transformation Program was established to address the Central Highlands Region’s problems of inefficient and ineffective operations, rising service delivery costs, constrained revenue and changing community needs and expectations.

The role of the Project Officer, Regional Shared Services will assist the Program Director in the delivery of the key strategic priorities through a shared services function and will provide oversight and project management of the Regional Shared Services project. Furthermore the Project Officer will assist in creating greater capacity for the workforce to deliver consistently high-quality services; providing greater access to the skilled workforce required; improving local community liveability; increasing the cost-effectiveness of delivery of services. This role will work closely with the Program Director and project teams from Ballarat Council and the five other participating Councils.

About you

To be considered for this exciting opportunity, the City of Ballarat are seeking an engaging, confident and innovative officer who is well regarded for their experience in assisting in the delivering of projects and programs through a high level of organisational skills. You will demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement capabilities and the political nous to interact with key stakeholder groups. Tertiary qualifications or diploma in business management or a related field are expected and of value would be experience working in Local Government, or another public sector entity.
