About the Mine
Maules creek is Whitehaven’s newest and largest coalmine with a life-of-mine of 30 years. Located in the Gunnedah Basin, 45km southeast of Narrabri and 17km northeast of Boggabri.
Whitehaven Coal strives for operational excellence and in 2016 the Maules Creek mine was awarded the NSW Minerals Council Mining Operation of the Year.

The Role - Explosives Supervisor
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Explosives Supervisor to join our Drill and Blast Team based at the Maules Creek Mine.
Reporting to the Drill and Blast Superintendent, this role is responsible for the following:
- Ensure drill patterns are on design
- Statutory responsibilities of all explosives on site
- Load of blast holes to design
- Comply with all relevant regulations and Work Cover
- Tie up plans and cost monitoring
- Liaise with explosive suppliers
- Supervision down the hole contract
- Look for opportunities of continuous improvement
The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications, experience and qualities:
- Blasters Users Licence
- 3-5 years in an Open Cut mining environment
- Mine software capability
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A strong commitment to safety
