The role
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the role of the Program Director Strategy and Implementation is a key leadership role in Council responsible for driving, leading and coordinating the three new strategic portfolios (design lead city; integrated transport and land use planning; knowledge and smart city) developed to create a Bigger, Better, Bolder Ballarat.
 
The Program Director will be responsible for overseeing the development of contemporary short, medium and long term strategies and implementation plans to deliver a suite of projects that consider the operational needs of Council and the community. Furthermore the Program Director will ensure the successful delivery of the projects by securing resourcing, funding, cross-divisional involvement and community participation.
 
The Program Director will be highly regarding and respected for their strategic advice provided to the Chief Executive, Mayor, Councillors, Directors and Executive Managers which ensures the strategic direction of the City is clear and able to be implemented via the strategic portfolios and project teams.
 
About you
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, the City of Ballarat are seeking an engaging, confident and innovative leader who is known for their contemporary and strategic thinking. You will have significant experience managing major complex projects from pre-planning to delivery including building project teams. You will demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement capabilities and the political nous to interact with the Mayor, Councillors, various levels of the organisation and with key external stakeholders. Tertiary qualifications in Planning, Design, Integrated transport and/or another relevant discipline are expected coupled with experience working within Local Government or within the broader public sector.
