The role
Reporting to the Events Manager and forming part of the Development and Planning Division you will be instrumental in guiding the future growth and development for the City which supports positive change and sustainable growth in jobs, investment and prosperity in Ballarat, and the wider region.
 
The Events Support Officer will assist in the planning, development, delivery and promotion (pamphlets, event programs, banners and signage, web sites and social media sites) for a diverse range of events for Ballarat, specifically those which contribute to the social and economic prosperity of Ballarat including, but not limited to, the Ballarat Begonia Festival, Ballarat Heritage Weekend, Winter Festival, ANZAC Day, Remembrance Day, and Summer Sundays. Furthermore the Events Support Officer will work with their manager to liaise with relevant industry and community bodies to leverage greater yield and social outcomes for the events while providing a high level of customer service, regulatory guidance and other general information to all internal and external event and community stakeholders to ensure safe events are maintained.
 
About you
To be considered for this amazing opportunity, the City of Ballarat are seeking a confident and engaging Events Support Officer with skills, knowledge and experience acquired through the completion of a degree or diploma course in Event Management with little or no relevant work experience e.g. a graduate, or someone without formal qualifications who has the relevant work skills / experience required, having worked on major events. In addition you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with an excellent work ethic and an ability to work flexible hours including after hours and on weekends and undertake some physical work (e.g. setting up equipment required at events).
