Yarra Energy Foundation (YEF) is an independent, for-purpose organisation with a huge ambition – to in driving action on climate emergency, achieve a zero carbon future in the City of Yarra. Established by Yarra City Council in 2010, YEF is governed by an independent Board of highly skilled and experienced professionals. 
YEF’s goal is to engage and inspire people who live and do business in the City of Yarra to take practical steps towards this goal. It does this by working closely with Council, developing sustainable income streams to amplify action, and delivering programs accelerate carbon reduction across the community.
The Board Chair will oversee YEF's initiatives to drive uptake of renewable energy and energy efficiency across households and businesses in Yarra and beyond. Core to the role, working with a talented board and CEO, you will build relationships with key stakeholders and play an advocacy role for YEF. With a 10-year track record of successful program delivery, there is an opportunity for the new Chair to lead a push to boost the profile of the organisation's achievements, positioning it for new opportunities. 
The Chairperson will ideally have previous Chair experience of a Board and/or Committee or be an individual with significant Board experience, who is ready to progress to a Chair role. The candidate will come with some exposure to the energy and sustainability sectors. Passionate about stakeholder engagement, the Chair will be able to work with a diverse range of parties in the public and private sectors and will take a practical approach to corporate governance.
