Job Description

  • Pursue carbon neutrality for the community
  • Drive a sustainability focus
  • Remunerated role
Yarra Energy Foundation (YEF) is an independent, for-purpose organisation with a huge ambition – to achieve a zero carbon future in the City of Yarra. Established by Yarra City Council in 2010, YEF is governed by an independent Board of highly skilled and experienced professionals. YEF’s goal is to engage and inspire people who live and do business in the City of Yarra to take practical steps towards this goal.
The Board Chair will oversee the development of a promotional program to shift the attitudes of the community towards energy efficiency and to enhance the uptake of energy efficiency initiatives. Marketing and communications activities will be designed and delivered by the YEF to educate the community and raise awareness for sustainability. Focusing on driving towards the achievement of carbon neutrality within the municipality of City of Yarra, the YEF will empower the business community to embrace this focus and make the shift to adopt new work practices.  Finally, as the Board Chair, you will build the relationships with key stakeholders and play an advocacy role for YEF.
The Chairperson will ideally have previous Chair experience of a Board and/or Committee or be an individual with significant Board experience, who is ready to progress to a Chair role. The candidate will come with some exposure to the energy sector. Passionate about stakeholder engagement, the Chair will be able to work with a diverse range of parties in the public and private sectors and will take a practical approach to corporate governance.
