City of Greater Geelong is already one of Australia’s largest councils, and now one of the fastest-growing. It seems everyone wants to make the move to Geelong, so the organisation is busy planning to welcome another 150,000 people by 2036. City of Greater Geelong is also built on a rich heritage of design, manufacturing and innovation– dating back 60,000 years –and has become Australia’s first internationally recognised UNESCO City of Design. All of this is driving Geelong towards a clever and creative future, and the organisation is seeking more great people to help achieve the long term vision.
Reporting to the Director Customer and Corporate Services, you will take charge of shaping a strategic vision of financial sustainability to ensure the City’s short and longer term visions and strategies are delivered. Taking responsibility for financial planning, reporting and measurement you will oversee the finance function and business partnering approach to ensure the organisation can deliver high quality services for the community.
As the go to person for Finance, you will be a key strategist for the Council, CEO and Executive Leadership Team and will build excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders over time.
Bringing a strong focus on continuous improvement and enhancing the overall operations of the finance function through your leadership of business processes and systems improvement projects, you will also grow the capability of your team by creating a positive and empowered workforce that embraces a progressive and pro-active approach to providing high quality finance support across the organisation.
You are a CPA/CA qualified professional with broad experience working in complex environments. An awareness of the legislative and planning frameworks that public sector organisations operate within would be advantageous. You are calm under pressure and take a collaborative approach to the way you work. You enjoy building relationships and leveraging the knowledge of others. You have led the transformation of a finance function in the past and have a track record of developing high performance teams and cultures.
