About the Organisation
Westernport Water (WPW) has a vision to lead through collaboration and innovation to deliver sustainable water and wastewater services that improve the health and liveability of our community. The core function of Westernport Water is to provide drinking water, recycled water, and wastewater services wherever economically, environmentally and socially practicable to properties and communities throughout its district across an area of 300 square kilometres on Phillip Island and the nearby mainland.
About the role
Reporting to the General Manager Assets & Operations, the Manager Environment & Water Quality is fully accountable for leading and managing the effective and efficient delivery of products for Westernport Water’s water, and wastewater systems within agreed service standards. This is your opportunity to work at a both a strategic and operational level with a progressive leadership team. Specifically, the role will:
  • Manage water resource and catchment management, energy and greenhouse management, environmental and product quality, integrated water planning and dam safety
  • Lead the team of staff which have recently come together and foster an organisational culture that is focused on safety and innovating to further improve operations and customer outcomes
  • Act as an advisor to the executive team on matters pertaining to investment in, management of, and performance of Westernport Water’s treatment infrastructure and product quality
  • Technical leadership as Environment and Product Steward in the development and ownership of Westernport Water’s design standards and service levels
  • Lead and manage the development of multiple strategies and plans to optimise the sustainable expansion and augmentation of water and wastewater systems
  • Deliver on the three Westernport Water climate change initiatives in the next 12 months
  • Provide appropriate, adequate and timely information and reporting regarding sustainability and product performance for the Executive, Board and other regulatory bodies
  • Undertake Manager (on call) after hours on an at least 1 week in 4 roster
About you
  • You will hold tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering (Process), Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering
  • Bring proven experience in environmental and product management
  • Have a demonstrated understanding of the regulatory framework in which Westernport Water operates and the link between sustainability, innovation environmental management decisions and their impact on business and regulatory outcomes
  • Have a passion for leading and developing people and commitment to safety
  • You will have refined writing and presentation skills for all levels of the business including an ability to present to Board and external stakeholders
