Job Description

Wollondilly Shire Council is one of the fastest growing councils in NSW. With the new Badgery’s Creek airport only 12km’s away and with Wilton New Town set to be the eighth largest town in New South Wales, growth is key to its future. In this role you will undertake strategic planning tasks and projects to facilitate the development of Wollondilly Shire.

Located in a unique and enviable geographical position - only 1.5 hours’ drive from Sydney CBD, 45 minutes’ drive from Liverpool and 45 minutes from Wollongong – the Senior Strategic Planner role offers all the benefits of lifestyle living but with all the professional challenges of a rapidly growing peri-urban Council.

In this job you get to work in a fast paced and rapidly growing environment where you will have a lot of responsibility and an opportunity to really make a difference in the strategic development within Wollondilly Shire Council.

Part of the Western Sydney City Deal, the area will see a critical amount of Government investment rolled out for transport, jobs and infrastructure across Western and Southwest Sydney. As a Senior Strategic Planner, you will be providing professional advice to Management, Developers and the public, in relation to rezoning and strategic matters.

A key responsibility of the role will be to provide support and assistance to Strategic planners and Assistant Strategic Planners within the team, championing an environment of collaboration.

Additionally you will be preparing written studies, plans and strategies and have the ability to communicate these to the community and the general public. As would be expected of such a role, you will have a strong knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979, and other relevant legislation. With a strong capacity to see the bigger picture when relating to strategic land use matters, you will have the willingness to undertake community engagement activities including out of hours meetings and functions.

An attractive remuneration package commensurate with the location and role is offered.

Closing Date: midnight Sunday 27th July 2019
