Job Description

  • Increasing and enhancing assets to serve a growing service region
  • Roll out infrastructure to green field development areas
  • Long term planning focus to contribute to livability
Our Client operates in the Utilities sector and is experiencing significant growth in their service region.  It’s an exciting time for this community-focused organisation as they innovate and continue to maintain an affordable service, whilst supporting their growing community.
As a newly created role that combines the strategic asset management and planning functions for the organsiation, you will report to the General Manager Planning and Capital Delivery and lead a team to develop the organisation’s plans for water, sewage and recycled water services.
With the growth of the organisation’s service region, the need exists to manage the planning process to ensure the plans for new assets and the renewals of existing assets are optimised. Infrastructure to green field areas (growth areas) will need to be rolled out and you will ensure economic, environmental and social outcomes for the community and region are met now and well into the future.
Leading the asset management program, you will identify assets approaching the end of lifecycle and recommend renewal investment to manage risks whilst having a strategic view for the longer term. You will also enhance the asset management system bringing a focus on forecasting tools that includes quality data and metrics to inform decision making.
With a strong stakeholder focus and a holistic view of the organisation, you will develop effective working relationships both internally and externally and manage staff, contractors and consultants to ensure planning deliverables are achieved in line with the quality, safety, budget and time expectations.
To be successful in this role, you will have broad experience, in Strategic Asset Management and Master Planning, preferably in a similar high-growth environment.  Additionally, having industry experience in utility or local government environment along with an engineering degree would be highly regarded given the nature of the work.
Possessing a strategic mind, you can think about the big picture whilst also bringing a focus to operational delivery and executing on a day-to-day level. Additionally, having a strong understanding of data analysis and using data to drive decision making will be important.
You have a strong record of leading teams and building high performance culture. You build strong relationships quickly, relate to people across all levels of an organisation and bring a genuine desire to have a positive impact for a community through the work that you do.
