The key functions of the position include:
 Collect and interpret data and information on disaster impacts in order to produce reporting products in line with disaster management frameworks and policies.
 Work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders to gain access to data and information for the purpose of reporting on disaster impacts.
 Conduct research on disaster risk reduction matters and provide advice to support related branch projects.
 Devise a state-wide plan to collect disaster impact data on an annual basis and work with stakeholders to develop standard operating procedures.
 Develop and implement plans, policies, strategies and other deliverables to ensure the delivery of disaster resilience, flood risk reduction, and QRA objectives.
 Work with other State Agencies under supervision to prepare responses to policy papers and proposals.
 Liaise with, provide advice and respond appropriately to internal and external stakeholders on matters that relate to resilience project delivery objectives.
 Independently plan, draft and deliver standard or routine policies on behalf of the organisation, ensuring the resulting documents are delivered to organisational and stakeholder expectations of time and quality.
 Undertake research and engagement on cross-jurisdictional approaches to specific disaster resilience, risk reduction, funding and mitigation issues, seeking to identify emerging best practice.
 Develop and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with external stakeholders.
 Support the Director or General Manager in meetings and at forums where appropriate.
 Undertake related and other duties of equivalent complexity as required.
 Adhere to all relevant WHS and HR policies, procedures, guidelines, directives and relevant legislation. Key skills required

Technical Skills: Public Policy Processes
 Demonstrated knowledge and experience of strategic policy and/or policy development, planning in disaster management is preferable.
 Relevant experience or qualification/s in disaster management or disaster risk reduction is desirable.
 Sendai Policy experience is desirable but not essential.
