Part of the Water and Catchments portfolio within the Department, this role will report to the Deputy Secretary and is a critical part of the portfolio leadership team. Taking accountability for leading a high performing team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships within Victoria’s Water and Catchment sectors to develop and implement policies and programs. As a passionate, innovative and highly engaging leader, you will provide your team with guidance, direction and support to ensure efficient and effective performance of group’s policy, program and statutory functions. As a key member of the Department’s senior leadership team this role will see you develop strong relationships internally and with other government agencies and key stakeholders to drive development of practical governance, statewide water planning, intergovernmental & international water policies, strategies, programs and initiatives.
To be successful, you will ideally have an understanding of the economic, social and environmental drivers for the State’s water and catchment management sectors. You will be an experienced passionate and enthusiastic leader from within a customer and community focused organisation. Your strong communication skills and your ability to work strategically across the Department and the Victorian Public Sector together with your understanding of governance, compliance and strategic risks will ensure your success. You are the type of person who is not afraid to challenge the status quo and develop new and innovative initiatives to ensure your team is delivering service excellence and high level outcomes to the Victorian community.
