Job Description

  • Opportunity to combine lifestyle & career
  • Empowered leadership role with impact
  • Drive the strategic focus and deliver operationally
Are you a People and Culture leader that is seeking a Tree-Change but not wanting to compromise your career? This might be your next role!
Baw Baw Shire Council has partnered with Davidson Executive & Boards to recruit their next Manager People & Culture and are looking for the very best talent for this exciting opportunity.
Baw Baw Shire Council is located approximately one hour east of Melbourne at the gateway to the Gippsland region. Supporting a municipality of more than 48,000 residents, including many small and remote communities, the region is experiencing exponential growth and expects to provide services to more than 70,000 people by 2030. This growth has been spurred on due to the region’s close proximity to Melbourne, fantastic schools, affordable housing, snow fields and world-class hiking and biking tracks.
As the Manager People & Culture, you will lead three service functions; People & Culture Operations & Support, Payroll and OH&S and Return to Work, to deliver service excellence across the organisation and to further enhance the partnership approach of working with the business to help enable service delivery for the community.
Following an organisational culture survey in 2018, you will drive the implementation of key actions across the organisation ensuring that leaders are owning the response to their results and taking positive steps forward to enhance the employee experience.
With an EBA negotiation coming up, this role will take ownership of this critical project and work through the negotiation process to achieve an outcome that all stakeholders and parties are satisfied with.
As a key adviser to the CEO and broader executive team, you will become trusted for your advice and be a key business partner for leaders across the organisation. You will present to Council at times and be able to provide strategic insights and operational performance reports that provide evidence on the health of the organisation, employee experience and emerging trends.
To be successful in this role, you need to enjoy the freedom and autonomy as a HR leader and be willing to set the strategic path and take action to achieve results. You will have a broad generalist background across the People & Culture field and have a record of developing high performance cultures in the teams you have led. Whilst you don’t need to have local government experience, an understanding of working within a government context would be beneficial and a passion for having a positive impact for community is a must.
