For more than a century, Barwon Water has provided high quality water and sewerage services to customers.  Building on that strong foundation, the corporation has now entered a new phase in its history.  Recognising the challenges of climate change, population growth, rapid technological advancement and economic transition, Barwon Water is shifting its mindset from water utility to helping lead the region’s prosperity.
At Barwon Water they believe that every individual has something valuable to offer. They understand that the more diverse their workforce, the wider the variety of ideas they bring to the table. Enjoy being part of an organisation that values results, professional growth, workplace diversity and a balance between work and life commitments.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will work with the executive leadership team and board as the key financial strategist and trusted 2IC to the CFO to enhance collaboration and a business partnering approach between finance and the broader organisation. As the Manager Commercial Finance, you will further strengthen the financial sustainability of Barwon Water, optimising financial performance, aligning investment efficiency and financial decisions with customer preferences, to deliver affordable prices and outstanding value to our customers and community. You will drive a partnership approach between the finance team and the broader business while also enhancing the commercial acumen and financial capability across the business. You will also enhance the capability of your team through coaching, development and mentoring. This role will also provide you the opportunity to interact closely with the board and to grow the business’ profit margin through better efficiencies.
To succeed in this role, you will be a motivated self-starter who expresses confident leadership and strong relationship building skills. As well as having excellent technical expertise you will have the ability to generate creative solutions for varied financial issues and effectively communicate advice.  Using commercial disciplines within a government owned and regulated context, you will help drive value, through a range of strategic initiatives including relevant growth opportunities and partnerships with customers, other agencies and organisations that deliver improved productivity and better outcomes for all parties. You will appreciate a working environment that focuses on constant improvement, ownership, personal and professional development, efficiency and impact on the bottom line. Furthermore you are a motivational leader who is highly regarded for your ability to empower teams to deliver higher levels of performance
