Mornington Peninsula Shire (MPS) is one of Melbourne’s destination municipalities, characterised by unique townships, world renowned tourist regions and areas of national and international conservation significance. With approximately 1200 employees, MPS is a busy, vibrant and values led workplace, with primary sites located at Rosebud, Mornington and Hastings. There currently exists outstanding opportunities to make your mark in Local Government in one of three newly created leadership roles under the helm of MPS’s newly appointed Chief Executive Officer.
The Head of Governance and Democratic Support is a unique and innovative senior leadership role in Local Government. Reporting to the CEO, and as a member of the Executive Team, you will lead the delivery of Council’s governance and democratic support services into a new organisational era. You will build strong and influential relationships and provide thoughtful, balanced and unbiased leadership to drive ethical and efficient governance practices that ensure decisions are aligned to legislative requirements and community expectations.
As a key advisor to the CEO and Council, you will work broadly across the organisation to champion a workplace culture aligned to one of high performance and continuous improvement focused on delivering exceptional governance, integrity and community outcomes.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a highly credentialed governance practitioner and politically astute executive leader. Your strategic and visionary leadership approach, suburb communication and stakeholder skills, and understanding of legislative frameworks in a political environment will be key to your success. You will demonstrate that you can achieve results, influence for greater outcomes, act decisively, build a cohesive and high performing team and recognise and harness new opportunities for embedding a culture of transparency and open decision making.
