CATSINaM (Congress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nurses and Midwives) is the national peak body that represents, advocates and supports Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander nurses and midwives at a national level. We believe that nurses and midwives are the backbone of the Australian health system, and play a pivotal role in providing culturally safe health services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. CATSINaM honours a holistic and culturally safe approach to achieving optimal health and wellbeing for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples and communities. We develop and promote strategies to ensure that this holistic and culturally safe approach is understood and applied by nurses and midwives working in Australia
As a trusted advisor to the President and the Board, the CEO will play an integral role leading this progressive and dynamic organisation. With a strong organisational focus on getting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to think about nursing and midwifery as a long term career and by providing opportunities to develop their career in a culturally safe and non-judgmental environment, the CEO will continue to drive the incredible work of CATSINaM into the future. As the face of the organisation the CEO will represent CATSINaM and its members with passion and integrity and lead the implementation of the strategic plan for the benefit of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nurses and midwives.
This is an incredible opportunity for an individual with nursing or midwifery qualifications who is a proven leader working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. You will have experience in policy and project development and implementation, as well as strong management and business acumen skills, to lead CATSINaM into the next phase of the strategic plan and well into the future. Strategic, influencing, negotiating and presentation skills will be key to your success in this role. Furthermore, you will be a strong communicator with an approachable style and can develop strong relationships with members, community, funding bodies and partner agencies.
