Information & Communication Technology

The Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Lead / Senior Business Analyst to play a key role in a major energy reform initiative. This position is central to improving business analysis maturity and supporting the organisation’s transition to a more standardised and compliant way of working across market and regulatory change programs.

This is a high-visibility role for a BA who combines hands-on delivery experience with leadership capability, particularly within AEMO, NEM Reform, or other regulatory transformation projects.

Melbourne CBD (Hybrid – 2 days WFH)
Initial 12-month contract

The Role

As a Lead / Senior Business Analyst, you’ll be responsible for establishing, uplifting, and embedding consistent business analysis practices within the program — creating frameworks and artefacts that can be reused across future reform initiatives.

You will:

  • Set up new BA ways of working aligned to regulatory and industry best practices within the FTA program.
  • Improve the quality, consistency, and governance of BA artefacts and documentation to better support delivery outcomes.
  • Provide hands-on support in developing customer journeys, business processes, and regulatory workflows that underpin the FTA’s architecture-led delivery model.
  • Guide and mentor the existing team of Business Analysts through the next phase of the project, building capability and driving alignment across workstreams.
  • Partner with architects, project managers, and regulatory stakeholders to ensure BA outputs support compliance with AEMO and NER rule changes.
  • Maintain visibility of requirements traceability, review cycles, and stakeholder approvals to ensure end-to-end delivery quality.

About You

Applications will only be considered from candidates with demonstrable experience in the energy sector and AEMO or NEM Reform programs.

You will bring:

  • Extensive experience as a Senior or Lead Business Analyst, ideally within electricity, gas, or broader energy markets.
  • Proven experience working on AEMO, NEM Reform, or regulatory change initiatives (e.g. Power of Choice, 5-Minute Settlement, or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to establish BA frameworks, artefact standards, and governance models in complex delivery environments.
  • Strong capability in process mapping (BPMN), customer journey development, and requirements definition.
  • Experience mentoring and guiding BA teams, uplifting quality and consistency of outputs.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior business and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Experience with Agile tools (JIRA, Confluence) and exposure to SAP or SAP IS-U environments (advantageous).

Benefits

  • Join a major energy reform initiative with national market impact.
  • Play a leading role in establishing BA practices that will shape future transformation programs.
  • Flexible hybrid working model – Melbourne CBD with 2 days WFH.
  • Competitive rate and supportive, collaborative program team.

Important: Due to high application volumes, only candidates with direct energy sector and AEMO/NEM Reform experience will be shortlisted. Please ensure your resume clearly highlights relevant program and regulatory experience.
