The Opportunity:

A major financial institution is seeking a highly skilled ReactJS Engineer to join a high-impact team focused on modernising payments and switching infrastructure within the Terminals and Payment Gateway domain. This role is part of a strategic Switch Replacement initiative and will suit engineers with experience in card-present payments, acquiring, and merchant switching.



The Role:

  • Develop and maintain front-end components using ReactJS and supporting technologies.
  • Design and build Back-end-for-Front-end (BFF) components using Node.js.
  • Collaborate in Agile squads on the delivery of microservices-based architecture.
  • Leverage your knowledge of payment gateway specifications including ISO 8583/AS2805 and ISO 20022.
  • Build and deploy solutions using CI/CD pipelines, with exposure to cloud platforms (AWS) and serverless functions (Lambda).
  • Contribute to solution architecture, conduct code reviews, and support team-wide engineering practices.
  • Lead and coach team members to ensure best-in-class engineering outcomes.

About You:

  • Extensive experience in software development, with deep knowledge of JavaScript (ES6/TypeScript) and React.js.
  • Strong skills across HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, jQuery, and modern web development standards.
  • Skilled in building secure, accessible UIs and integrating with RESTful APIs (GraphQL a bonus).
  • Experience developing in cloud environments – particularly AWS Serverless, Lambda, ECS, and Docker.
  • Familiarity with ISO 8583/AS2805, ISO 20022, or card payments is highly advantageous.
  • Confident working with tools like Webpack, NPM, Git, and testing frameworks such as Jest or Mocha.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Full Australian working rights required.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in banking or financial services.
  • Exposure to credit scheme clearing and settlement processes.
  • Understanding of microservices and GraphQL integration.
